Step outside in the morning and onto the trail

Vila Matliare has an exceptional location between Tatranská Lomnica and Kežmarská Biela voda. We chose four trips for different paces, weather and experience levels.

01 · Directly from the villa

Zelené pleso from Tatranské Matliare

The finest full-day walk straight from Vila Matliare. The trail leads through forest and the Kežmarská Biela voda valley to an emerald tarn and Chata pri Zelenom plese at 1,551 metres.

What to expect

The hut can be reached year-round, but snow and ice significantly change walking time and difficulty in winter.

02 · Easy nature walk

Pramenisko nature trail

A short wooden walkway above a rare wetland near Tatranská Lomnica. Information stops introduce the water-shaped forest, plants, rocks and animals of this national nature reserve.

Route

Botanical Garden in Tatranská Lomnica → Barčova meadow → Pramenište reserve → loop back to Tatranská Lomnica

Wooden boards may be slippery in rain and wet weather. The growing season offers the richest experience.

03 · Mountain hut in the Belianske Tatras

Chata Plesnivec from Tatranské Matliare

A hike to the only high-mountain hut in the Belianske Tatras. From Matliare, an easy opening section follows the walking and cycle route to Kežmarské Žľaby; blue and yellow markers then climb through the Valley of Seven Springs to the hut at 1,290 metres.

04 · Full-day mountain hike

Via Zelené pleso to Jahňací štít

A demanding high-mountain hike for experienced walkers. From Chata pri Zelenom plese the trail climbs through Červená dolina and Kolový priechod to the 2,230-metre summit.

What to expect

panoramas across the Belianske and High Tatras

The summit section is subject to seasonal closure. This hike is unsuitable for young children, inexperienced hikers or anyone uncomfortable with exposed terrain.
